Guide to Making Your GoProfile  Video

This video will make you extra sellable to organisations. We need you to create 3 separate videos that will be added to your Go Profile. We will then send these onto employers so they can see your AMAZING personality and want to meet you face-to-face!

Preparation

We need you to prepare your answers to 3 separate questions. To make this easier, we have created some example answers:

Making your video tips

Key Points for the Videos

  • Film each separately.
  • Be about 30 seconds long.
  • Make sure you have an ironed, plain, and smart top on
    remember, this is what employers will see for the first time.
  • Ensure the background is completely plain behind you,
    and the lighting is good (by a window).
  • Smile and show your personality
    speak clearly.

Delivery

  • Body Language:
    Sit up straight, maintain good posture, and avoid fidgeting. Use natural hand gestures to emphasise points, but keep them controlled.
  • Eye Contact:
    Look directly at the camera, not at yourself on the screen. This creates a sense of direct communication with the viewer.
  • Speak Clearly:
    Articulate your words, and speak at a moderate pace. Avoid speaking too quickly or too slowly.
  • Multiple Takes:
    Don’t worry if you don’t get it right on the first try. Record multiple takes and choose the best one.
  • Test Run:
    Do a short test recording to check the video and audio quality before doing the full recording.
  • Stay Calm:
    It’s natural to feel nervous, but take deep breaths and stay calm. A relaxed demeanour will come across well on camera.

Technical Setup

  • Camera Position:
    Position your camera at eye level to avoid unflattering angles. Use a tripod or a stable surface to keep the camera steady.
  • Background:
    Select a clean, uncluttered background. Avoid backgrounds with distractions or too much movement.
  • Lighting:
    Ensure your face is well-lit. Natural light from a window can be effective, but avoid harsh sunlight. If using artificial lighting, position lights to avoid shadows on your face.
  • Quiet Environment:
    Record in a quiet room to minimise background noise. Inform others in your household to keep noise levels down.
  • Microphone:
    Use an external microphone if possible, as it can significantly improve sound quality. If using a built-in microphone, ensure you are close enough to capture clear audio.

  • Click on the link to the folder.
  • Click on “upload”.
  • Select your videos from your phone, tablet or PC.

Note that you can upload a maximum of 100MB at a time.
